19 bright students complete Arkan’s 4-week training programme
24 February 2016, Abu Dhabi, UAE – Arkan Building Materials Co., a leading construction and building materials company in the UAE, celebrated the graduation of 19 Emirati high school students after a successful four-week work placement programme.
In line with Abu Dhabi’s journey towards economic diversification, Arkan’s training programme empowers Emirati students with the necessary skills and tools to lead the industrial roles of tomorrow. The programme provides high school students with the opportunity to gain work experience at a young age.
The 19 graduates included 10 Emirati women who have received specialised training in electrical engineering and two ladies who have undergone finance work placement and seven Emirati young men who received specialised training in mechanical engineering.

HE Eng. Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Arkan, said, “Knowledge and skills gained during a work placement are invaluable to each student's future career progression. It provides them with hands-on experience that will help them better understand the field. It will also get them to appreciate organisational structures and processes and performing as part of a team. We are keen to engage with local high schools and universities to develop the UAE’s future workforce of engineers and technicians and for us, of course, to identify those high flyers to whom we can offer career opportunities.”
Commenting on her personal experience with Arkan, recent graduate, Maitha Ali Salem Al Saedi said, “I am extremely proud to have completed this programme. As a future electrical engineer, this programme has been instrumental in giving me an idea of what to expect in my future career. The training programme really helped those of us who attended to understand the challenges that we might face and how we can face them positively.”
